This session will take a look at two years of the USHE Regional Pathways initiative and how the work has evolved to begin the development of a systemwide career mapping playbook for use at the institutions. In addition, each member of the Regional Pathways team will share what is happening on the ground level at each regional university and the innovations and collaboration that are taking shape as a result of their work.
Join representatives from the Utah System of Higher Education for an update on key technical education initiatives shaping the future of workforce development in Utah. This session will provide context and intent behind ongoing efforts, highlight opportunities for collaboration, and address questions about our work. Attendees will also have the chance to share insights and ideas to help identify additional opportunities that benefit institutions, students, and the industries we serve.
Shawn “BW” Barstow and Shalyn Drake from Utah State University’s aviation department will share plans, ideas, and tips for how to take your program and skills from elementary to industry. We’ll review activities, contacts, tricks of the trade, and successes we’ve found work for building a pathway from primary to secondary to post-secondary to industry. With expertise in drones, Barstow and Drake have experience in working with concurrent enrollment, outreach programs, industry partnerships, and building a technical education program from scratch to fulfill job placement needs in the fastest growing industry in the world: UAS (drones).
